The Deep Six were a vocal, early sunshine pop, folk, rock group from southern California (San Diego area) with a sound somewhat similar to the Mamas & Papas. Their first record was the single "Rising Sun." In late 1965 & early 1966 Deep Six promoted the song on both "American Bandstand" & "Where the Action Is" TV programs. Playing a guitar part on the single was Jim Messina of Buffalo Springfield fame. Their one-and-only album was released later in1966 & featured guest appearances from many well-known local musicians at the time. Liberty records was kind enough to release four more singles from the album, but sadly none charted.

LYRICS: Rising Sun
As the end of day
Reveals the stars that one by one appear
I know another night has come
I know another fear
Are in the black and endless dark
By which I run
I pray for the morning after night
The rising of the sun
For in the night, I see your face
Your smile so like the sun
And in my heart, I feel your warmth
Then yet I have to run
Because the things to show my love
Have all been done
And so I wander through the night
Waiting for the sun
... And you...
And so I think I'll go out
Where ever it maybe
And in my troubled wandering
Find a way for me
To live without you
By my side constantly
To bide me forth
My mind at ease
And be free
Constantly
